Reviews and Ratings
My stay at the hotel was overall satisfactory. The room I stayed in on the second floor of the Garden Wing was a good size, clean, and had coffee making facilities, which was convenient for a good night's rest. However, there was a constant humming noise from a fan or unit below that disrupted our sleep throughout the night.
Staying at this hotel was an interesting experience. The rooms, while a bit shabby, were clean and comfortable. It was nice to stay in a traditional pub rather than a modern tower. The trek to my room was a bit quirky, but it was very hot once inside. The double glazing did a great job of blocking out noise from other bars and traffic, making for a peaceful stay. The service was friendly and helpful, although some contract complaints were heard. The location was perfect for my visit, right on the High Street near the castle. The dining experience was a bit over the top for simple options, but the homemade products were delicious. Overall, a decent value for the money.
The hotel had a mixture of positives and negatives. The decor in the main bar area looked shabby and miserable, but the bedroom was fine and comfortable. Unfortunately, the night was very hot with no air conditioning, and the stairs and landing were neglected and grubby.
